Our trip in Enland – DAY 2 : Tuesday 8th March

In the morning : We visited Shakespeare’s globe theater in London. We had a guide and she explained to us the story of shakespeare. It was built on 1599 in the district of Southwark. In June, 29th 1613, the globe burnt, because the roof took fire during a representation of Henry VIII. The rich spectators sat on the tribune and the poor were lying on the stage. Over the stage, we can see a little door in the ceiling ; it was the paradise’s door. And under the stage, there was another door which was the hell’s door.

The play was performed in English. There were only 4 actors but they played the role of 13 characters. Some pupils had minor roles in the play which was a fabulous experience for them. The actors were Irish and they belonged to the Emerald Island Theatre Company. (EITC)

The plot was about two sisters, Emma and Jenna. Emma dreamt of becoming an actress whereas Jenna was more down-to-earth. She disagreed with her sister because she didn t fulfil her dreams. They were argueing when Emma had a stroke. She was then in a coma. Jenna was worried and she then decided to live her life the way she liked, she would listen to her sister’s advice… did she succeed ?

The performance was : « amazing », « wonderful », « fabulous », « funny », « easy to understand », according to the European class. We were surprised and thrilled. It was pleasant to watch because we understood everything, the actors talked clearly and we had fun. It was a great experience!
