Our trip in Enland – DAY 2 : Tuesday 8th March

In the morning : We visited Shakespeare’s globe theater in London. We had a guide and she explained to us the story of shakespeare. It was built on 1599 in the district of Southwark. In June, 29th 1613, the globe burnt, because the roof took fire during a representation of Henry VIII. The rich spectators sat on the tribune and the poor were lying on the stage. Over the stage, we can see a little door in the ceiling ; it was the paradise’s door. And under the stage, there was another door which was the hell’s door.

In the afternoon : We visited the Tower of London with Miss Vadot and the European class. We saw the room of the tortures but especially the jewels of the queen which were amazing. There were beautiful crowns and spectres. We took a picture with a beefeater, he was a guard of the jewels of the queen. He lives on-the-spot. He is called beefeater because formerly they were paid with some meat. Moreover, The Queens Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard were beheaded. There is a legend which says that if there isn’t seven ravens in the Tower, then it would be the end of the monarchy. Englishs were very superstitious.
After, We saw the monuments of London by bus. We saw London Eye, Big ben, the district of Westminster. It was impressive and beautiful !
