As we decided to follow the European session in Lycée Prieur, we have 1h30 per week of science taught in English by Mrs LABAUNE, a biology teacher. I am going to tell you all the themes that we have studied this year :
-
theme one : what is a body made of ? Example of the vertebrates
Lesson one : what is a vertebrate ?
Lesson two : Let’s learn more about the anatomy of vertebrates
Lesson three : what does the microscope reveal ?
-
theme two : what does an animal organism need to develop and get renewed ?
Lesson one : animals need food
Lesson two : animals need to breathe
Lesson three : what is a balanced diet made of ?
Lesson four : the importance of eating well
During two sessions we played a game about animals. We had a picture which represented an animal and the other pupils had to make us guess which animal it was. It was very funny !
Besides, during our trip to England, we visited the NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM of London. The latter houses collections of life and earth sciences (approximately 70 millions of specimens ! Can you believe it ?). This amazing museum is well- known for its entrance hall dominated by the skeleton of a diplodocus and for the exhibition of skeletons of dinauraurs. The museum houses five major collections in the following areas :
-botany
-entomology
-mineralogy
-paleontology
-zoology
We are so lucky to learn English outside the English class. It is definitely a plus for us in our mastering of Shakespeare’s language !
