Corpses, all that I could feel or hear were corpses. Our guide’s voice seemed to come from another world; I was there, standing, hearing, taking pictures but, none of it seemed actually real. It looked like a bad memory or nightmare. Sometimes, it even became hard to see, or breathe.
I had that feeling that, around me, one million ghosts were there, observing us, telling themselves that we would never be able to understand all the suffering that they had been put through. I can’t exactly express the way I felt when I was there but, I had that kind of impression that, they were there, with us, in the same room, following the guide just like us and trying to open our eyes into their pasts, their half living days, but without any success. It was like trying to break a titanium wall with a feather. Although, as surprising as it can be, sometimes, there was some kind of breach in that wall. When that happened I would feel their presence; once, it was so strong that I even had the impression that somebody had just passed through me. And then, suddenly, all the energy I had left had been purged out of me: my legs; my legs had become melting ice; then my heart had stopped beating as my lungs had just disappeared, leaving me in complete asphyxiation.
